State Representative Robert S. Molaro, has served in the General Assembly since 1993. Formerly a Senator from the 12th District, he successfully sought election to the House of Representatives in 2002.

As an experienced legislator, Representative Molaro has introduced, co-sponsored and strongly supported legislation to protect the environment, strengthen education, preserve Medicare and Medicaid, promote crime prevention and rehabilitation, guard consumers and defend taxpayers throughout Illinois. Representative Molaro is a supporter of KidCare, a program that provides insurance coverage for children, and he believes that our seniors deserve relief from the high cost of their prescription medicines. Molaro believes that no one in Illinois, or anywhere in the United States, should have to choose between purchasing food, paying for utilities or buying essential prescription medications.

To address the problems caused by freight trains blocking railroad crossings during rush hour in his district, Molaro sponsored legislation to fine railways. His bill was intended to make sure that emergency vehicles reach their destinations in timely fashions and to prevent traffic jams.

In order to encourage welfare reform efforts, Molaro sponsored a measure that allows working parents, many of whom are trying to leave public assistance, to keep two of every three dollars they receive in child support from the non-custodial parent. He pushed for the measure because custodial parents who are on welfare currently receive only one dollar for every three of a child support payment.

A practicing attorney, Representative Molaro heads the law firm of Robert S. Molaro and Associates. He has served as the technical/legal advisor to the $1 billion Cook County and Forest Preserve District Employees' Annuity and Benefit Fund. Before entering private practice in 1984, Molaro served as an Assistant Corporation Counsel for the City of Chicago. Molaro's educational background includes a Bachelor of Science in business administration from Loyola University of Chicago and a law degree from Chicago's John Marshall Law School. He is a graduate of St. Ignatius College Preparatory High School.

Born and raised in Chicago's McKinley Park Neighborhood, Representative Molaro resides with his wife, Barbara, and their five children in Garfield Ridge.

The 21st Representative District is a culturally and ethnically diverse district encompassing a portion of the 23rd Ward in the City of Chicago, and all or portions of Berwyn, Brookfield, Forest View, LaGrange, LaGrange Park, Countryside, Lyons, McCook, Riverside, Stickney and Summit in suburban Cook County.
