Sen. Millner represents the 28th Senate District in Illinois. Previously, Sen. Miller served as a member of the Illinois House of Representatives from 2003 to 2005. Sen. Millner's top priorities in the General Assembly are 1.) Helping the local economy and protecting jobs, 2.) Defending children and families from crime, and 3.) Ensuring students have access to the best quality education possible. Recently, he has sponsored and passed legislation that cracks down on sex offenders, keeps guns out of the hands of violent criminals, and protects consumers from identity thieves.
Prior to becoming a legislator, Sen. Millner was a member of the Elmhurst Police Department from March 1972 to January 2003. Sen. Millner rose through the ranks, culminating in a 16 year term as Chief of Police. Sen. Millner has served in the leadership of numerous organizations. He was the past president of the Illinois Association of Chiefs of Police, past Chairman of the Illinois Attorney General's Violence to Children Task Force, past president of the Law Enforcement Foundation of Illinois, past president of the DuPage County Chiefs of Police Association, and past founding chairman of the DuPage County Advisory Commission on Gangs. He also served as a member of the Voices for Illinois Children's Committee, Governor's Commission on Discrimination and Hate Crimes, the Council of State Governments, Midwestern Legislative Conference, and the Violent Crimes Advisory Committee.
Sen. Millner earned a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Social Justice at Lewis University in Romeoville, IL and a Master of Arts Degree in Law Enforcement Administration at Western Illinois University in Macomb, IL. Sen. Millner also received an Associate of Science Degree at Triton College in River Grove, IL.
