A principle partner in the Springfield law firm of Metnick, Cherry & Frazier, Mr. Metnick has been involved in several notable cases since the beginning of his career in 1975. After serving as an assistant Public Defender in Sangamon County, Mr. Metnick moved to private practice in 1977 where he concentrates in criminal defense, family law and personal injury cases.

In addition to his extensive criminal practice, which includes defense of capital cases, Mr. Metnick has also written and lectured in the area of criminal practice for continuing education seminars by the Illinois State Bar Association, the Illinois Institute for Continuing Legal Education and the Illinois Trial Lawyers Association. He has served as Chairman of the Illinois State Bar Association Criminal Justice Section Council, President of Illinois Attorneys for Criminal Justice and President of the Sangamon County Criminal Defense Bar. He has also served on the board of the Illinois Innocence Project.

Mr. Metnick received his J.D. from John Marshall Law School in 1975 and his B.A. from the University of Oklahoma in 1970.
