In 2002, Attorney General Lisa Madigan was elected to be the 41st Attorney General of the State of Illinois. Prior to her election, Attorney General Madigan served in the Illinois State Senate as the highest-ranking Democrat on the Senate Education Committee and was a member of the Governor's Education Funding Advisory Board and the Governor's Task Force on Universal Access to Preschool. In addition, Attorney General Madigan served on the Senate Appropriations Committee and the Joint Committee on Administrative Rules. She also co-chaired the Conference of Women Legislators. After graduating from Loyola University Law School, she went to work as a litigator for the Chicago law firm of Sachnoff & Weaver, Ltd., where she specialized in employment law.

Attorney General Madigan received her J.D. from Loyola University Law School in 1994 and her B.A. from Georgetown University.
