State's Attorney Haida was elected in 1991 to serve at the St. Clair County State's Attorney. Prior to his election he served as an Assistant United State's Attorney in the Southern District of Illinois and as an Assistant State's Attorney in St. Clair County.

Mr. Haida serves as chairman of the St. Clair County Child Advocacy Board, co-chairman of Illinois Fight Crime: Invest in Kids, a member of the board of governors of the Illinois State's Attorney Appellate Prosecutor, past president of the Illinois State's Attorneys Association, a member of the Illinois State Bar Association, a member of the St. Clair County Bar Association and a member of the Southern Illinois Police Chief's Association.

Mr. Haida received his J.D. from St. Louis University School of Law in 1983 and his B.A. from McKendree College.
